I have been taken somewhere between the Middle East and New York, and yet it all happened in Mexico City! So far I have presented two aspects of what Mexico has to offer: incredible natural sites and a rich cultural past. I would like to draw attention another of its facets. I was amazed by modernity of this country and the entrepreneurial inventiveness that moves it forward. In my mind Hookah captures this spirit. Hookah Santa Fé is a large restaurant/lounge located at the heart of the financial district at the top floor overlooking the skyscrapers. What a breathtaking view! The rooftop terrace is simply splendid with its loungy seats, low tables and original fire heaters (yes they do come in handy sometimes, after all the city is 2000 m above sea level). Cosy and grand do not normally go together and yet they perfectly define the place, and that is just the outside! Inside more beautiful surprises: lamps imported straight from Morocco, mosque like tiles and garments, lovely lighting hanging from the very high celling. The main room is very spacious but the owners thought of everything, for more privacy little alcoves provide a bit more intimacy. The place is so unique and tasteful it was featured in AD, a renowned international architectural magazine. With a scenery like that your expectation in terms of food are medium for lack of a better word. But at Hookah place and taste go hand in hand. Fusion is on the menu! Middle eastern food and Mexican cuisine have common traits: conviviality and sharing. Mezze platters, enchiladas, tacos, grilled seafood blend in nicely together and I must stress the quality of the products. Attention to detail goes a long way and music is not left out. The playlist is carefully chosen and Dj's regularly mix for important events.
Little plus: you can enjoy a shisha on the terrace for the ultimate wow factor...
