A stroll around Uzes - Part 1

Remaining in the South of France for this post I would like to introduce the medieval town of Uzes to my fellow readers.
On a lovely Saturday morning I set out, in good company to discover Uzes. There is something incredibly aristocratic about this self proclaimed first Duché of France, it might have to do with the city's rich architecture and the fact that it overlooks the whole region from the hill its built on.
Place aux Herbes after the market

First stop the market. Not just any market but one of the most colorful an animated ones in Southern France. In the summer it fills the entire Place aux Herbes, a square refreshed by the welcome shade of Plan-trees and surrounded by arcades and cafes. The quantity of goods is only matched by their quality. All producers are locals and all are extremely proud of their region and and what it has to offer. In this market no shouting, there is no need as queues for delicious cheeses, organic honey and flavored saucisson never seem to disappear. Clients are not bothered, it is well worth the wait and in the meantime they can always have a nibble of their next purchase just in case... A must try is Mr Mabille stand Miu Pais. He  prepares himself delicious Provencal spreads to put on bread for the cherished apéro, make sure you add some marinated olives to the celebration. After filing in your bags with products it is time for a little relax before a further discovery of what the town has to offer.
