I have previously painted Frankfurt as either cold or somehow lacking refinement. I would like to correct that, the town has more to offer. If one prefers a quieter night (not involving loud singing) I would recommend the Urban Kitchen. There are 3 venues in town, I went to the one on Borsenstrasse. The menu has something for everyone (meat, sushi, pita, pasta, fish…) all food is extra fresh and the chefs prepare the dishes in front of your very eyes in the open kitchen). It is decorated in style with modern wooden furniture and a profusion of plants, surfing on the eco-chic wave. People also tend to go there for the large cocktail card. In the summer the restaurant puts tables outside and you can eat your meal by the light of outdoor torches. Staying in the same ambiance for further drinks why not got to the TowerBar. This tower is now transformed into a chic bar serving (large) happy hour cocktails. The place is a Frankfurt classic and it has managed to ally history and modernity with its large renaissance lamps and metal decorations. If you are feeling a bit ‘tired and emotional’ avoid the lavatories… that trip up the turning stairs 2 stories up might not be the best idea!
