Stuck in time

Friday is market day for SE1 locals. But it is not any market it is the Caledonian Antique Market on Bermondsey square. On a week day the place is normally empty apart from a few people rushing to work or the kitchen staff of Bermondsey Hotel (article to come of course!) Having their first cigarette of the day. But on a Friday it becomes a whole different place. Antiques connoisseurs and curious visitors stroll around the square looking for the golden find, the unique peace to complete their collection. The market specialises in silverware but has its fair share of jewelry stands and interesting trinkets. The Brits truly have a passion for anything vintage or to do with olden days. You will see countless programs on TV about how to dig out the perfect antique, another trait of character that they seem to have as a nation is that they are completely unable to throw things away. The two features combined and you end up being a seller/buyer at Bermondsey square Antique Market. I strongly recommend a stroll around as there is something for almost every taste, plus you will not be left starving there is a breakfast stand as well which sells bacon rolls, tea, coffee and other purely British delights.
