Sunday... Roast!

For all you non British readers you might not be familiar with the concept of a Sunday Roast  Diner. You only really have it at lunch time and it is pretty much a set menu that you have week on week. On your plate you will find, roasted potatoes, carrots, cabbage apple and broccoli depending on the type of roasted meet your having. Beef goes with gravy, pork with apple sauce and you can still find lamb with mint sauce. And last but bot least the Yorkshire pudding (a rather delicate even if slightly tasteless pastry). This will come as no surprise to you that there is a perfect place on Bermondsey street to go for a full traditional roast diner: The Garrisson. I do know know which I love more: the food (try the lamb rollade!) or the venue. The place is charming, original, vintage, I do not have enough adjectives to qualify it. Old fashion wooden floors and not a single matching peace of furniture, coffee tables, sawing tables, all kinds and types of wooden chairs, the chandelier is made out of upside down tea cups, the whole makes a lovely English ensemble. The menu is also clearly English with the nations's specials revisited to really bring out the best flavors. The places gets quickly booked up but you can always ask to be sat in the 'cinema' this underground blue room looks like someone living room so you can sit on the settie enjoying your meal or simply a cup of tea whilst a film is shown on the big screen. Once again very inventive I must say! And an outstanding roast!
