January was the month for relaxation and slowly getting back into things. To close the chapter because one can not eternally stay in holiday mode I offer you one last post in the same vein as OKari Spa.
This post is special to me. Every blogger should get to do an opening at some point. May it be a be a gallery opening, a movie premier it is a great occasion to be on of the few privileged people that experience something special and get to write about it before everyone else... my VIP event was the opening of the new Thalasso complex in Cabourg.
I might not go as far as saying the Cabourg it the new Deauville but the town has a lot of charm,character and more authenticity than her neighbour.
We arrived under tons of snow to a very modern and large resort. From the outside the building had no particular charm but the interior was a truly good surprise. Modern and relaxing are the two words that best describe the place. It is not always easy to strike the perfect balance between cozy and and stylish but I think Hotel des Bains did just that. Large windows, spacey rooms and yet the place retained a warm feel with its modern chimney, stylish chairs, designer sofas and travel books.
First thing we did was to head to the Gastro restaurant. Belonging to a 4 star hotel the menu is not exactly cheap and the portions not exactly large but they are absolutely delicious, inspired by great French chefs and using the finest local products (Normandie butter and cream, and extra fresh fish). What a wine list!!! and dedicated sommeliers to talk you through it.
How nice is it to be able to after a few wines to climb up the stairs and dive into a extra comfortable bed. Rooms might not be large but they are extremely well thought of and full of clever gadgets. Ask for a room with a sea view and it will feel very large all of the sudden. In the summer you can enjoy your breakfast on your private balcony. No actually do not... The breakfast buffet is too succulent for you to miss it.
But I seem to be missing the point of this escapade! The first purpose of Hotel des Bain is the thalasso. and there again the facilities do not disappoint. The main pool is magnificent. It overlooks the beach and has many installations within the water such as bubbles, high pressure water streams and so on. You can spend hours just going from one atelier to the next. A gym, a hamam and a sauna are also available for you to use at no extra coast. My favourite room: the relaxation room with its long chairs, blankets, dimmed lights and sea view...
There are also many treatment rooms with sophisticated equipments that I have yet to try.
After a weekend like that one is full of energy to get back to work!
