Galerie "La Navire"

Reading over my last post on 'Le Crabe Marteau' I realise that I might have given a bit of a rough image of the Bretons. I would like to correct that and highlight the fine tastes of this nation of world travellers. Whilst siting in the leaving room of my friend's house  saw a great painting of an L.A. sight, intrigued and knowing how much these friends loved their escapades I asked f the painting had been shipped all the way from the states. 'Don't be silly' they told me its all bought in Brest! The gallery La Navire showcases a range of fine modern paintings from international artistes. The theme is often sea or travel, two Breton passions. Over 20 painters exhibit and sell their work at the gallery with a wide range of prices. I personally have a little 'je ne sais quoi' for Tony SouliĆ© who's dynamic paintings use photographs, writings and bright colours. And if after buying a painting or two you are in the mood for some more decorating you will love l'Astrolabe' which is a contemporary furniture shop completely inspired by sea & boats.
You wallet might be a little lighter by the end of this shopping spree but your home will certainly have unique additions.
