Just another rainy afternoon...

As depressing as it might be, summer has not started yet and it is showing little sign of doing so. This weather calls for museum visit or cuddling up with a warm cuppa. Well I have just the place for you. As we start our Bermondsey Street week I shall perhaps warn you that I will most certainly be a touch biased! After all that is where I live and I simply love the place, but let's get back to the subject. On a rainy afternoon why don't you pay a visit to the FTM (Fashion and Textile Museum) You certainly cannot miss the bright pink and orange building! The exhibitions often change but last time I went I learnt about post-war time British designers and admired all the colorful fabrics. It is surprising to see that they are coming back into fashion (mind you went you walk the streets of London you have the feeling that everything is in fashion!). The museum is quiet small and has a very nice shop full of interesting accessories and nice books. It also offers a range of courses such as IT design or introductions to making your own handbags and shoes. Its a great initiative and courses are rather affordable and tought by experienced professionals from Newham College of Further Education.

Après l'effort, le réconfort! In other words time for tea and cake. Tea Pod offers freshly baked cakes and tarts and over 20 different types of tea to go with it! Its is a colorful warm place where you can easily spend hours chatting. The best bit is that you can take your favorite tea home and order it online if you ever run out.
