Roast or the longest sausage you can eat!

Wanting to impress some French friends by the quality of British cuisine I took them to what I though was the perfect place: Roast in Borough Market. I knew the restaurant sourced most of its products from the market so I was certain that food would be fresh and of best quality. The truth is that I had been wanting to dine there for a while. Being a regular of the Borough Market I've always looked up (litterally) to the restaurant thinking how fantastic it must be to dine there, feeling the market's activity and hive whilst enjoying one's meal.
After climbing a few sets of stairs we entered the premises. I was not expecting the very modern decor expecting a more traditionally british set up. The restaurant was divided in 3 areas, one for cocktails, a bar and the dinning area where we sat by the large feature window. We picked our dishes from the set menu. We had the choice for the main course between a vegetarian dish, posh fish and chips or pork and black pudding sausage. Not having meat in this place was out of the question so all four of us went for this option. In a nuitshell everything was delicious but there was a lot of it! No one mannaged to finish the half foot long sausage! French refined restaurants a renouned for their small portions so I let you imagine everyones shock as the plates arrived. I had not managed to forecast the most inventive or refined British food but no one went home hungry. Except for portion size and the fact that the set menu only had sausage for meat we enjoyed our starters and deserts a lot and found the waiters outstanding.
