La Bouillabaisse de Fonfon

Sorry to my English readers for such a French title but any translation of those words sounds common and unexciting. As I was seeking some sun in the South of France after a very rainy summer I also decided to experience Bouillabaisse. For the Marseillais and people from the area it is the sacred dish! A longed lived tradition, a recipe past from generation to generation to keep the secret of this unique fish soup.
Fonfon is a well renown restaurant and has the particularity of being praised by international gourmets as well as by the locals who are, when it comes to Bouillabaisse, a much more severe jury. It is located in a little fishing port on the outskirts of Marseille in a charming and quiet area full of character. The big town regains its village feel as you see the tiny boats coming in and out of the port. Fonfon offers impeccable service and a wine list to die for. For those who are not fans of fish soup I would say: try again! But otherwise any of their fish dishes are extra fresh and refined.
Bring some sun back with you, try their epicerie. You can buy some products that will liven up your normal home cooking and will taste of Provence...
